Since spring 2025, the Fondation Parc Om\u00e9ga, in collaboration with Parc Om\u00e9ga, has been actively involved in a conservation project dedicated to the Western Chorus Frog. Designated as a threatened species, the Western Chorus Frog is now protected by provincial and federal legislation. But its survival depends on much more than its status: it depends on concrete actions, such as those undertaken by the Foundation and other partners. Although tiny, this frog plays a key role in the balance of the ecosystem. As an insectivore, it helps regulate insect populations, particularly mosquitoes and other small arthropods. It also serves as prey for many predators, contributing to the food chain. <\/p>\n

Project milestones
\n<\/strong>
\n In spring, when these little frogs emerge from hibernation, they are entrusted to us to reproduce in a controlled environment. The adults stay briefly in our facilities, while the female lays her eggs and the male fertilizes them, before being released back into their natural habitat. We then carefully raise the tadpoles until they metamorphose. They are then released into local wetlands, where they help strengthen local populations and ensure the survival of this endangered species.
